Inspiring Minds Sets Fundraising Gala for April 22
WARREN (Tribune Chronicle) — Inspiring Minds is planning its 11th annual fundraising gala 4 to 7 p.m. April 22 at the Metroplex Expo Center in Liberty.
It will bring together students, families, alumni, businesses, supporters and the community to celebrate the organization’s impact in the Mahoning Valley.
Deryck Toles, founder / CEO of Inspiring Minds, said the gala is one of the nonprofit’s largest fundraisers and has sold out at over 500 attendees the past five years.
“This year, we’re excited to host our gala at a new venue, that allows us to engage more businesses, invite more individuals and celebrate more student successes with our community,” he said.
More than 65 percent of the organization’s annual funding comes from special events and individual donations.
Toles said 2017 is going to be another big year for IM, saying, “We have some exciting updates and announcements to share that will have a positive impact on local youth, and our community as a whole.”
The fundraising event will feature scholarship presentations to college-bound students, community awards and recognitions, and auctions and raffles.
Since 2006, IM has served more than 2,000 students, visited 70 cities in 15 states, toured over 70 colleges and explored more than 60 companies across the country.
IM students have graduated high school and continued their education at college or with the armed forces.
“Every volunteer, every mentor, every dollar truly helps our program continue to change lives for the better,” Toles
